The Saggar Collection

Saggars are used to shield ceramics from direct flames and ash, and are typically made from clay or other refractory materials.

Combinations of ferric chloride, seaweed, pines needles, straw, oxides, horsehair, salt and sugar are added to the saggar. The enchanting results of this process often reveal rich, organic hues and captivating patterns and texture, all forged through the magical interplay of saggar and kiln.

Saggar firing invites the opportunity to explore the delicate balance between control and chance, culminating in distinctive ceramics that resonate with the delicate balance of nature's elements.
